Valentina Berthelon (Chile)

Valentina Berthelon is a Chilean media artist based in Berlin. Her practice spans audiovisual performance, video art, sound experimentation, installation, and immersive technologies, with a strong connection to experimental music.

Combining analogue and digital processes, she creates layered audiovisual environments that bring together moving image, sound, generative systems, and spatial experience. Collaboration is an important part of her practice, and her projects often develop in dialogue with musicians, performers, artists, scientists, and researchers.

Berthelon completed a BA in Visual Arts at La Esmeralda in Mexico City and a Master’s degree in Art and Media at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK), where she later completed her Meisterschülerin studies. She lives and works in Berlin.

My current research explores perception and the connections between the body, landscape, and the cosmos. I am particularly interested in how we experience phenomena that are not visible to the human eye, and how these can be translated into audiovisual forms. My current project, Ecos Espectrales, looks at darkness through different ways of observing and understanding the sky, bringing together astronomical data, field research, and Andean cultural astronomy.

Residency supported by Fondo Nacional de Desarrollo Cultural y las Artes (FONDART) – Circulación Nacional e Internacional 2026, Chile
