Zilah Garcia
Zilah Garcia (1967, Olímpia – SP. Lives and works in São Paulo, Brazil). Zilah's artistic journey began in her mother's porcelain and plaster painting studio. This early exposure to art established a lifelong passion that has woven itself throughout her life.
Her works address the growing phenomenon of eco-anxiety, a phenomenon emerging from environmental degradation, serving as a call to action, urging contemplation, understanding, and proactive responses to the challenges of the Anthropocene. In 2025, she was part of COP 30, participating in Casa Brasil Belém's panel called "Women of Impact: sustainable businesses that make History".
Today, Zilah's quest for solutions has amplified her artistic production on two complementary fronts: on one side, artworks confectioned from recycled plastic bags, in which she extends beyond the tangible to the psychological, emotional, and mental realms. She invites viewers to reflect on their environmental impact and consider ways to transform both material and psychological waste in their lives.
On the other side, Zilah deepens her investigation of soil as matter, memory, and resistance, applying earth over canvas, wood, and books, in artworks that evoke the fissures of the Brazilian sertão and its historical narratives, reaffirming her commitment to ecological, social and cultural issues in the Contemporary Era.
