ABOUT LA WAYAKA CURRENT.
Rethinking artistic practice through place, research, and ecological inquiry.
An itinerant platform working across remote territories in dialogue with artists, researchers, and more-than-human worlds.
MISSION
La Wayaka Current is an itinerant, artist-led research platform and residency program creating space for interdisciplinary inquiry at the intersection of art, ecology, and cultural exchange.
VISION
We imagine new ways of relating to land, knowledge, and creative practice in a time of planetary crisis—cultivating place-based learning, experimental dialogue, and radical forms of care across geographies.
WHAT WE DO
Artist & Research Residencies – Site-responsive programs designed to expand creative and ecological inquiry in dialogue with place.
Interdisciplinary & Collective Research – Exploring ecological, political, and cultural dynamics through fieldwork, material practices, and exchange.
Public Programs & Collaborations – Talks, workshops, exhibitions, and publications that extend research beyond the residency.
