3. Indigenous Artist Bursary
LWC is pleased to announce an new Arts Bursaries for Indigenous Artists, Musicians, Creative Practitioners, Writers, Scientists and Activists based in Latin America to apply to join our program fully funded. *indigenous definition.
LWC Indigenous Arts Bursary is an annual multi-disciplinary arts bursary specifically for Indigenous artists residing in South and Central America. For the purposes of this grant, “Indigenous” is defined as an indigenous person who self-defines as part of an Indigenous group or territory existing in a country within South and Central America.
Why do we support indigenous artists to join our programs ?
The ways in which biodiversity loss is presented in mainstream discussions are often dominated by white-western narratives and exclusionary of people of colour. Despite cuts to funding happening around the world the funding opportunities available in Western countries are much more available than those in Latin America. The focus of this particular bursary is in strengthening the indigenous communities exchange of knowledge through art and culture in the Latin American continent.
Will LWC support other POC and artists from indigenous groups outside of Latin America in the future?
Yes, we aim to have more bursaries n the future with the support of other funding institutions!
